Re: DKCRE General Discussion Topic

Ah! I did not know about the replacing object thing. I'm going to try that later tonight and see what I can do.

Re: DKCRE General Discussion Topic

Ah, no. I didn't mean my own custom made objects. I meant like the objects that are already made for the game. Like, right now it appears you can only move around the objects that are in the level already. Like, bananas and monsters and floating platforms and the like. The other stuff I'm glad to he...

Re: DKCRE General Discussion Topic

Hey, I don't know how much of any of these are possible, but here's a few suggestions: -Ctrl-Z to undo. I keep on subconsciously doing it, and then remembering it's not in there. It's a habit that carries over from my notation software usage. -Some sort of logical ordering of the tilesets. I don't r...

Re: DONKEY KONG COUNTRY RETURNS!!! [CONFIRMED]

The point of Super Kong, I believe, is to allow the difficulty of the game to remain the same, while allowing a less skilled player the opportunity to see how a pro might do it. It still retains the difficulty for older gamers, but is still accessible by other people. Its a smart idea in my opinion...

Re: What do you want to see "Return" the most?

Not the water levels. Looking back on it, I liked the music, and really not much else. That's a taste thing I guess, but I always thought that they weren't as fun (unless I had engaurde. If all the water levels had engaurde, I would be happy). I did like the mix of water and land levels though. Thos...

Re: DONKEY KONG COUNTRY RETURNS!!! [CONFIRMED]

I'm pretty excited about this game. It looks great, as shown by the new gameplay vids, and it looks like it'll be a lot of fun. I'm not missing Funky overly much, and the fact that I don't have to get through three or four levels to save is a good thing. It's one of the main things that drags down N...

Re: What Video Game Systems Do You Own?

I guess I'll contribute since I like to collect consoles and stuff. My collection isn't too big yet though, and won't be till I have more money. -Wii -Gamecube -N64 (this was a very lucky buy. I got the console, two controllers, AC adapter, and several high quality games including OoT and Mario 64 a...

Re: Glitch that only occurs on one of my two SNES

A little bit of an update. First a little more on the DKC thing. The weird lives things only happens on every number from 10 and up. Lives 1 through 9 are fine, and then it starts to glitch. I decided to see if it would happen with other games. I tested out DKC3 and the same sort of thing happens wi...

Glitch that only occurs on one of my two SNES

So, I bought another SNES at goodwill for really cheap (7 US dollars!) in the hopes that I could clean it up and sell it online for a little more. Not really the point, but anyways... I was play testing some of my stuff to make sure my games worked on there, and because I was bored. I popped in DKC ...

Re: Making your own custom songs for a DKC fangame

yeah. I used to think that too. anything that has .mid at the end just means it uses your soundcards General Midi sounds, which is a collection of about 220 instrument sounds. It's why some .mid files sound better on other computers. I'll have to work more on the sampling thing although the process ...

Re: Making your own custom songs for a DKC fangame

Ah. Yeah. Pretty much. We have to use theory for most of our stuff. Although, now I have a different instructor (for theory 4 through 6) and he's telling us we should listen to what we're writing more than what we used to do which was just going by the chords we write. I'm glad you like it. Unfortun...

Re: Promotional DKC video in spanish

Ah. Ok, thank you. I probably never got to that bonus since I never really bothered to get all the bonuses.

It'd be cool if there was a level built around the concept of having to use almost solely enemies to get through it.

Re: Promotional DKC video in spanish

Hey, I've been wondering about something. I considered just posting my own topic, but decided I'd go off this one. If that's a problem, I guess it should be moved. At 12:07 in the video, there's a scene which looks like its in a temple level and DK is jumping over a whole bunch of vultures. I don't ...

Re: What did you like best about DKC3?

I think my last post was for the wrong board, but while I'm editing I might as well contribute.

I really enjoyed the semi-non-linearity, and the fact that every level was a completely new idea (although I wish they would have more seamlessly integrated all the new ideas in other levels.

Re: The general topic about Donkey Kong Island and other places

While playing through the game yesterday, and I made it to Chimp Caverns. I've been wondering... are they inside of the giant Donkey Kong head's nose?

Re: Making your own custom songs for a DKC fangame

On occasion, I have songs I write get stuck in my head, but that's more from spending so long on one part, and listening to it over and over again to see what works (although I've been told by my instructors in college not to use that method, it's something I can't help). I'm glad you like it, and I...

Re: Making your own custom songs for a DKC fangame

Thank you! I've finished the song now, but there's still a few issues (so not finished, but more like the song has a start and a beginning). Like you said, there's the overlapping violin thing, and I've been trying to get that to sound better. It's an archaic technique I used to use to make it sound...

Making your own custom songs for a DKC fangame

After finding this website, and finding out about the Level Builder, I was inspired to write my own songs for a fan game. I didn't really have the right sound, so I made my own soundfont comprised of mostly super nintendo instrument samples, various synthesizer sounds, and a few extra sounds that se...

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hi everyone! I decided to join because I've had a couple questions about the series and the level builder (those will be saved for separate forums) and because I've been a fan of the DKC series for a long time. The Super Nintendo was my childhood. I grew up on it for first couple years of my life (I...
