My best childhood friend owned a SNES and several games. I always wanted to play DKC whenever I went over and, years later, I remembered how much fun I had with it and got it with my own SNES.
Another friend with a SNES had DKC2, but I didn't see as much of her.
The Brave Little Toaster is a brilliant film - they used to show it over here during the Christmas holidays every year when I was a kid, and I still remember the time they showed it and cut my favourite song (City of Light) from the viewing.
I'm going to agree with the majority and say that I would much rather a new DK than DK64 go to the 3DS. Don't get me wrong, I would love to play DK64, but only if they did something to not make it seem such a trawl to get through levels. Every time I tried to play it, I just found it too tedious.
I don't think the AVGN was ever trying to make the game sound bad, per se... Just that it was frustratingly difficult and two-player made it even more so.
I can't say I have ever played it but have played other Rare NES games, like Solar Jetman, The Legend of Digger T. Rock and Anticipation.
Okay, is this a really elaborate spambot posting here? Anyway, I have to say I wasn't fond of DK64, but maybe my fault in it was not getting it around release, but getting it only a couple of years ago. The levels are far too big (I got lost in the first one for about two hours before getting a migr...
I'm still wracking my brain over which games are my top ten, but I just wanted to post to give Markster HUGE KUDOS for having the fine title known as Speedy Eggbert mentioned in his "Other Games" repertoire. I now know three people, including myself, who actually played that game.
I swear it's been one of those weeks; I went to ask one of my work colleagues on Tuesday what their plans for the weekend were (thinking it was Friday) - very unusual since my brain is normally a day behind! Mind you, I am off of work for a few weeks now so that may have thrown me off a bit.
It's difficult because I actually have a few favourites. I love the silhouette levels, but I also love the Mine Cart/Rocket Barrel levels, too. In fact, I loved the World (4, was it?) that was nothing BUT Rocket Barrels and Mine Carts. but the silhouette levels are absolutely beautiful, so I really ...
Thanks! I think it was taken sometime last Summer (reason that it's out of date is that I recently had laser eye surgery and don't wear glasses any more). Trains are a lot of fun - I often go on trains to cities are a while away, but this one was a quiet little steam train ride, which is always nice...
We don't have the same game shops here. A few years ago, I would have said Gamestation, since they dabbled in the retro video game market. They were since bought out by GAME and are now pretty much just GAME with a different name above the door. GAME do have their perks though. Ordering online nearl...
You will need to upload it to an image host online, and then link it using the "Img" button. As for mobile 'phones? They're not really something I'm into keeping up with, given that mine spends half its time being misplaced! I'm going to possibly look into getting something a bit newer, bu...
Welcome to the forum, SimianSegue/Duncan! It's always good to find a young retro gamer! Probably your best bet for SNES cartridges for DKC games are eBay, if you've not tried already. My favourite tracks are Jungle Hijinxs and Gangplank Galleon in DKC, and Boss Bossanova in DKC2 (there are others bu...
As I suggested elsewhere, have you fiddled with the contrast dial? Mine seems to work fine, but it is a case that I have to have it at the right contrast to see it.
Augh, I know the feeling, Jomingo. They're doing a UK tour for the 3DS, but the closest one to me is a two-hour drive away and isn't going to happen until the weekend (so would have been AFTER the release!). I knew I wanted one and, to be honest, I didn't want to face the same issues that I could ha...
Pffft. A Wii costs less than a 3DS. You got ripped off, dude. I personally will wait for the 3DSi. Just barely. Besides, I already own a Wii. And considering the amount of gameplay I'm going to get from this 3DS, as well as being able to share in gaming for the first time in forever with family, I ...
Oh whoops, I totally forgot to mention that I have a PSP! Nice list, Madcap! And no worries, Tiptup - some places in Europe do; we personally don't over here. I'm definitely going to enjoy it (and maybe make an upgrade in the future should there be a new and improved one), but am happy with what the...
...I'm in England. We don't have Gamestop here. And no, I sold the DSi to my brother and the DS to a friend, which got me more money than I could have gotten for either in trade (asides from the fact that the DSi is an import so would be a no-go at the shop). I also ordered my 3DS online which means...
Hey there, Ribbedebie! *waves back* Thanks for the kind compliment; I need to do some more DKC art sometime when I find an opportunity to do so now I'm back in my drawing mojo. Your paintings are really great! I've never been able to use paint as a medium very well (more of a "dry" media p...
I've only seen dribs and drabs of the show on YouTube (although have seen a DVD with a few episodes for sale over here); I remember seeing an advertisement for it (in the British Sonic Comic, of all places!) and really wanted to watch it, but was unable to watch it since we didn't have the channel i...
My direct family doesn't really know anything of it and probably not even of its existence; the only thing they know is that I got a DKCR t-shirt when I pre-ordered my game and my brother hounded me endlessly for it. I finally gave it to him for Christmas, when I got myself another one in a smaller ...
My favourite playable character is Dixie (I remember playing the first two DKC games as a kid, and was impressed to see a playable female character, which apparently has had a huge impact on me), but I also like Diddy. DK probably comes third as a playable character, but I do like Cranky and his ran...
It sounds like you went much the same way as I did, Tiptup Jr. (except I was on Firefox a lot longer). I think for more internet-savvy people, it really is the way to go; as I said before, I think for people who don't use the Internet much, it's a bit intimidating to have no shortcuts and very few b...
Simion, that's exactly why I keep my Windows 98 laptop. Pretty much every PC game I own is for older operating systems, so running it on Windows 7 is not feasible.
I went for Windows 95 and 98. I really loved 3.1, but 95 had Hover with it, therefore nudging it in as my second choice. 98 is my secondary OS after Windows 7, though.
