Here recently I have started a new comic. As said by the title, it is based on Julius Caesar yet set in more modern times. Here are some other differences:
1. The story takes place in the fictional town of Rome, New York.
2. All the characters are in high school, Romulus High in fact.
3. Caius Cassius and Casca Longus are cousins who act more like brothers.
4. Both are actually very immature, even teasing Juli at some points.
5. It is not written in Shakespearean dialect.
6. Like in the Leonardo DiCaprio version of Romeo and Juliet, they use guns instead of knives/swords.
7. Scratch that, Juli has a knife.
8. And a gun.
9. Unlike his namesake, Juli is very lazy and has ADHD(still has the epilepsy though(yep Caesar was epileptic)).
10. Juli, in the more-than-likely case you haven't figured it out, is pronounced as July and not Julie.
11. The story starts off with Juli saying the famous "Et tu, Brute?" line.
12. It also begins with Juli narrating and then once he dies it switches between Brutus and Antony.
So, I may have spoiled the original Julius Caesar for you if you haven't read it but still. I've actually drawn te first few pages of it and shown them to my English teacher, asking her for any advice before I got too far. The fun part is since they were actual people I can use them all I want!
