2008 United States Presidential Election Topic

It's about time somebody made this topic. This is where you can vote for who you would vote for, and just discuss the election in general. The First names on the poll would be president, and second name would be their running mate.

So what, exactly, is the second name for?

OK, for example, Obama- Hillary means you want Obama for president, and Hillary for Vice president. Kay?

I should make a similar topic as soon as the next Chancellor Election in Germany is.
First reply will be:
Who or what is a Merkel?

Not everybody from the forum lives in the US, but being the US, it's almost as if they were the "2008 Whole World Presidential Elections" xD
Isn't the election till November? We're on May! xD Anyway, I've heard the candidate with most chances of winning is McCain, something to do with his "delegades"? not sure if it exists a word like that in English. Anywho... He has really good ideas... But Clinton is really treading his heels (<---Google traductor). This isn't my matter anyway xP

Close, it was Delegates. And McCain is the only one with a remote chance of winning. That's too bad, he's going to be another George Bush. I guess our country isn't ready for a female or a black president. It's really dissapointing, I might not mind so much if Mike Huckabee were his running mate. And yes, the Elections aren't until November, but right now is the best time to talk about it, seeing as the Democratic Nominee hasn't even been chosen yet.

You chose to label her as 'Hillary' rather than 'Clinton' to avoid people connecting the name with her ex-pres husband, yes?
I personally don't involve myself with world politics of any sort, if avoidable. I like the idea of Obama as a world leader, though. Not only for what I see it meaning for racial equality, but also because he's one cool fellow.
Hillary would be my next choice, as I think the step toward gender equality would be a very positive one, and because I like the idea of her showing up that infidel husband of hers.
I guess that slates my vote as
Obama- Hillary.

Hilrod? Oh my god...
Americas elections remind me more of a big show instead of a democratic act. Everything is totally bloated up.
On the one side there is electioneering almost everywhere and that for many, many months and on the other side there is a low voter turnout.
Just my opinion
Perhaps the voter turnout will be higher than usual this year.

I'm surprised by the choices we have this year. Hillary is, dare I say, a b...*bleep*...ch, and Obama doesn't know anything about how to be a president. I mean, seriously, this should be the easiest election for the Democrats to win, and they choose two of the worst choices.

He wants to take away guns? Good for him - and good for everyone.
...The first terrorist? That's a very offensive, misinformed and wildly inappropriate comment. This man is the best thing to happen to American politics -perhaps even world politics - in my lifetime. Stop being a silly-head, Kong Fu.

Yeah , this is awesome though! I wanted Hilary to win originally, but Obama's my main man! This is the first time in US history the President goes to the same church I do!(Not the very same church, mind you
) Of course, today I had to face my all Republican school. Aw well, I'm happy for him.

Obama having muslim name =/= him being Muslim.
Being Muslim =/= Being a Terrorist.

The terorist thing was a joke, I don't seriously think he's a terorist. I just think he's too sympathetic of Iraq and Iraqis. There have been rumors that he won't say the pledge, won't wear an American flag lapel pin, voted not to make English the primary language, and so on. They're all just rumors though. Theres no telling if they're true, or which ones are true.
Also, something funny I found on the lapel pin thing:

Not to undermine your Qyzly knowledge, but... you don't even know the half of it.
People are still
very prejudiced in the Southern states; I'm the only white student in my school who supports Barack Obama. Everyone else literally thinks that he is a Muslim Terrorist who burns flags and will refuse to be sworn in on the Bible.
EDIT: And no, he doesn't really want to take away guns. That's another Republican lie.

Because his father was a muslim and he has a Islamic-sounding name. Also because there's a lot more racism in this country than most people realize. And because there ar a bunch of idiots out there who don't know s**t and think that being muslim means being a terrorist.
Man I hate people.

Not all southern states are racist (that's Alabama crap
). My state is not racist, and I am certainly not racist. I don't care if he's black, white, or blue as long as the "change" isn't the insane gas prices kind of change.
Actually, it would be pretty cool if he was blue. "Obama goes down in history as the first blue president of the United States!"

Yeah, sorry... I guess I shouldn't have just said "the Southern states" like that, because I know that there are still many intelligent people who will also refuse to believe the insane claims made during McCain's campaign, just as I do. Didn't mean to insinuate that anyone here was prejudiced or something along those lines.
And in response to Kiddy's question: American elections have always been dirty things (especially during this campaign), so I guess the rumors are to be expected. Visiting
http://stopthesmears.com/ would probably tell them better than I could.
...Good night, internets!

Yeah, for those who think that the days of prejudice and racism are over, you are sorely mistaken. I live way up in Michigan and their are still plenty of White supremecists who think the south will rise again, and who think that Obama is a terrorist.
It just takes a Black president to bring them out of the blue.
