Anyone got Donkey Kong Country-related screenshots

Postby Gaz » May 29th, 2012, 2:53 am

Hello, this is Conker's Bad Fur Day, a Wikia editor on Mario-related wikis and Rare-related wikis.

I was wondering, does anybody have any DKC/DKL related screenshots for me to have? It would really help me on wikis on adding the screenshots themselves. I promise I will give you all credit for keeping the screenshots k?

Thanks.

I could help potentially but I need to know exactly what you need regarding the screenshots. As in, one per level? One per archetype?

Thanks :D

^ apologies for the delay; I don't have immediate internet access nowadays and this kind of slipped my mind to begin with.

I took all of these screenshots personally a few months back to accompany each individual music track. There are a couple of customs too (DKC3's A Birthday Surprise, Big Boss Blues & Baddies on Parade)

Lemme know if the above link doesn't work and I'll be happy to upload 'em elsewhere!

Here are those pictures you asked for :D

I can do some more if you'd like. These were just what I found lying around (and some I made out of inspiration).

Here's something!
These screens are of the not-very-well-known-of language screen in DKC PAL ver.
Oh, how I wish I could play DKC in German... even though I can't understand it! :P
But enough of my babbling, here are the screens

Very nice! Thank you. Also, you may want to you SNES9X for screenshots. It removes the black/white outlines at the bottom and emulates more properly.

Superfluous quote removed by Qyzbud

I think with the latest version of ZSNES we won't have to worry about the borders in the screenshots.

I'll just limit myself to 3 simple facts:

1. These things take lots of time, and I'm not exactly scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to do. I'm a full-time college student with several other obligations, none of which sadly involve Donkey Kong Country screenshots. You'll find me online because after a hard day's work I'd like to just unwind and relax. Ripping screenshots doesn't fall under that criteria honestly.
2. I can only rip screenshots on one computer of which I don't personally own...and even then, ripping said screenshots is pretty difficult/time-consuming/annoying.
3. Ripping screenshots feels like more of "job" than something I would love doing.

All of that said, I would ideally love to rip screenshots. I absolutely mean that. If my laptop still worked I'd have had all of them done. I love that laptop, and over the 3 years I had it I probably spent a few hundred hours with MSPaint open alone. Screenshot ripping was the absolute easiest thing ever.

You seem to be Mr. Screenshot Man; why don't you rip them (honest question)?

Sure. I'll rip some snapshots myself, k? Please be a bitmore respectful next time. I thought you said they're coming soon in like August or something  . As for ripping myself, I just thought extra help would be nice. That's all :|.

Please don't try being disrespectful like that again :( .

He seemed very respectful to me, Conker's Bad Fur Day. You two simply misunderstood each other and Cody has taken the liberty of clearing the problem up. If you were implying that he was being disrespectful on account of his honest question at the end of his post, he did say that it was an honest question.

I agree with Super Luigi — Cody's been very generous with his (limited) time, having shared multiple screenshot sets with you so far... and considering how you spoke to him (you did come across as being pretty pushy by demanding "Where are they?"), I think he was pretty respectful. Calling you 'Mr. Screenshot Man' was perhaps a touch cheeky, but if I didn't know your name, I think I'd probably call you that, too. :P

Speaking of being respectful... CBFD, did you even thank Cody for the screenshots he provided for the DKC GBA trilogy? (this post)

Remember; good manners cost nothing, but get you a long way in life. ;)

Via PM, I did. Cody just had it said in a way, that to me, it wasn't respectful (OPINION!!!). I should try getting some more screenshots.

Hmm, I guess you did thank me for them.

In regards to do the "disrespectful" thing, truthfully I don't see what I said wrong. The "extra help" has been displayed by me in several aspects: I gave you DKC trilogy SNES, DKC GBA trilogy photos.... heck, I even took pictures of the DKL3 manual for you. As I mentioned before, I'd ideally love to rip the screenshots for the other games, but I'm not fit to do so at this time, and I really, honestly, truthfully don't know how to express it differently.

I don't know about you (and I'm not sure of your age), but I really don't have all the time in the world to devote my life to ripping Donkey Kong Country screenshots for someone who goes "thanks! now can you give me some more?" It's bad enough I've had to deal with that in the real world with people I know personally. It's not even about the giving either, it's more of the fact that I'd have trouble doing it even if I wanted to. Ripping screenshots sounds very tempting, but here are my options:

1. my brother's faulty hard-drive'd Windows 7 desktop that freezes for several seconds at a time randomly
2. a 10-year-old Windows XP laptop that has trouble even running a NES emulator at full speed

Looking at my PM box and the many "reminders" by you that inhabit it, I'm just wondering how you could've taken me as being disrespectful. Yeah, I guess I did promise you screenshots back in August or whatnot, but I would really prefer not being nagged just because I'm late on the delivery. ESPECIALLY when you have the potential to do them yourself. So yeah, you can't get mad me for not having the time to do something you yourself could easily do, a fact that's been demonstrated countless times throughout the forums.

Edit: actually, why even ask me again when I flat-out told you via PM *in* August that they'd get here when they get here? I even told you back in June or whatever that reminders of any kind are extremely unnecessary
