I gave up my DKC1 project because it's not good, i was a begginer at editing and the difficulty was kaizo. And i honestly don't like kaizo difficulty, it's not fun and it's annoying. (my opinion)

So i decided to make the first DKC2 hack that will be completly different from every single DKC2 hack you've seen. The name of this hack will be "K.Rool's Return"

K.Rool's Return will be an unique hack, to be able to play this hack, i suggest you finish DKC2 at 100% at least once without abusing save-states. You'll also need to be able to "roll-jump". That's all.

Here's what's gonna make this hack so unique :

- Beautiful tile editing (I'm trying to make some awesome design, but level like lava are so hard to make so i can't make it look perfect.. )
- 100% new design map
- 100% new design bonus zone
- Not kaizo at all.
- All bonus (New bonus challenge, bonus barrel are hidden. Most of the time there will always be an hint.)
- DKC coin
- Letter
- All level got a new name
- A few life baloon are hidden in most of the level

I'll only make 5 release.

- Release #1 : .ips Level 1 ­[ Done ]
- Release #2 : .ips World 1/2/3 [Coming Soon]
- Release #3 : .ips World 4/5/6
- Release #4 : .ips Lost World
- Release #5 : Final release with bug fix / Few tile fix to make it look more beautiful.

You can try out the .ips of the level one and see the new design. Try to get all bonus + DK Coin.

I will post a video of each level i edit once they are completed. I suggest not to watch them unless you don't care about being spoiled. They can be useful if you can't find a bonus / DK Coin.

Watched most of your videos and I really wanted to download and start playing but I'd figure I'd wait for the 1/2/3 release so I can spend some time enjoying the hack. You've put a lot work in your hack judging your 2012 prior and I'll definitely be watching your progress as you complete this makeover. Do you have a window of a completed release, 2013 I assume?

I made the world 1 very quick, like 1 level every 1 - 3 days.. Then i kinda became slow because i play other games too :p
Now i'm back to editing and i'm working on 2-4 . I'll complete World 2 soon.
I just wanted to know one thing, how did you edit the bonus description and the scroll text in the first level ? I know how to modify level names but not those two things

Speaking of bonus descriptions, I forgot to edit those in my revised Kongtraband. Here is the information you need:

You simply need a hex editor, I use WindHex.

You can find the bonus description at 0x3AB430 and the cabin text at 0x34AC70. If you don't have much experience with a hex editor you definitely don't need to worry, you can start interpreting the data in your own way as you go along as each user finds their own way. You'll be able to find the level names, NPC text (Cranky, Wrinkly, Klubba, etc.), and even the credits asking for some modification. Enjoy.

What's also cool is you'll find other languages you might be familiar with in case you play the game in a different language.

I have been in the same question field as you. Fortunately, I was able to ask Matrizzle if the title screen was hopefully uncompressed so it would be easier to rifle through in the data but he was able to provide to me most of all the image data is compressed making it more difficult. I would have you clarify with him on some exact details because I decided to move on from that field for my own personal hack.

Though I would like to upload some developer artwork into my title screen if you do get an answer.

Well thank you Axis for telling me about the editor trick, i managed to edit the text. About the image i don't know and don't worry i'll tell you if one day i find out.. (probably won't happen).

Unfortunately, no. But I still have all the project on my hard drive. And I will of course continue it, but i can't right now I have a lots of things to do. This project is on "pause". But I am not giving up on it
