Getting all the DKC games and an SNES for Christmas from my awesome grandma! I am going to start talking about DKC like I used to because at the moment this feels all ancient to me

Man, i love Mythology.

As do I. Though I don't anything about the Roman pantheon, except the planets are all named after them.

Saturn, the Roman mythological King of the Titans, also known in Greek mythology as Kronos, father to Zeus, known in Roman mythology as Jupiter. By request of his mother Gaia(Earth), chopped his father Ouranos (Heaven) into bits with the man's own scythe, which Zeus would later to him, thus starting the Age of the Titans, the Golden Age(for Kronos---Zeus doing this would start the Bronze Age, the Age of the Gods). December is convenient for him because the church created Christmas to counteract the pagan festival of Saturnalia.

Sorry, it's after two in the morning here and for some reason I'm reminiscing about all the weird things I learned in Theatre Arts last year. It's making the mythologist in me come out.

Oh no, that's fascinating to me. Though I would think Theatre Arts would be an odd place to pick up on Roman mythology.
Then again, our Theatre Arts classes were composed of an awesome bunch of people.

Are the Roman gods complete synonymous with the Greek gods, or do their histories differ some respects?

There are many different theories for Roman Gods. Most are the same for Greek Gods. Some have the same name in Greek and Roman mythology, like Apollo.

I've always been interested in Greek and Roman Mythology but I learned the origins of Christmas during our Theatre History arc in the class.

I wish I had a PAL SNES controller. My 5(!) ones are all NTSC (I live in Canada, so that makes sense).
The reason I have 5 is that the first two came with the system. They still work perfectly.
The next two were bought at a yard sale. My mom thought they would work perfectly because they were in their original boxes. She couldn't have been more wrong. One of the two had all the buttons broken except the ▲ one.
The last one I got for my bithday. It works okay but the start button is WAAAAY too sensitive!

How weird — I just posted about how we never got to see Expresso again.

My first guess would be that maybe he was intended to appear in the background of Thunder's (or Cinder's) stage... both have vast, sandy plains, although you mostly just see cliff face and sky in Thunder's:

I've tried to find new interests, and i found about a game franchise called Monkey Island.

I watched some of the gameplay videos and i liked it. It was a game with sense of humour and was good for me.

The Monkey Island series is a good one! I haven't played the whole series, but I've enjoyed the humour and style of everything I've encountered so far.

Simion32, I was thinking of that very same scene when I posted. It also looks like I've delivered pie fever to the Atlas. Chibisai Kong, you weren't boring me, and I too have taken a moment of silence for those massacred.

So in other news, when winter begins this year, the world will apparently end. *waits for people to discuss the topic and Simion32 to denounce everybody who believes it*

If you guys like Monkey Island, you'd probably like both Sam and Max Hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle. I grew up in awesome point-n-clicks and my boyfriend recently gave me a bunch.

Official art for Bachelor (from DKC3 GBA)?

This is funny, because it looks like they just took a Brothers Bear render from the SNES version and pasted sunglasses on it.

It's Bachelor Bear. I'm not exactly sure of his roll in the game, since I've never played the GBA version, but they added him in the GBA port of DKC3. It's just a render.

They have it in the series renders on the DKU.

I know who that is. I just found it funny how the glasses are just pasted on top of the actual render.

DKC3 GBA was epic. It's probably the best of the ports. Here's hoping they release them soon on the eShop (not that I own a 3DS or anything.)

I've been looking for it... it's super hard to find at the stores I usually go to for my retro games. I'm just going to be patient and wait to see if it shows up there, rather than order it from amazon or something...

I own the first two for GBA, and I really want the third...

I dunno. I might get the GBA games, but mostly because they're DKC on the go.

And they'd almost complete my "SNES on GBA" collection! I have all the SMA games except SMA2, and LOZ:LTTP on GBA!

I once saw that one of my mother's friend's children played the first DKC on computer, it was a strange one.
The Game was slow, and also you started from a cave level that had red Zinger going up and down. I don't know if it was DKC on emulator, early version of DKCLB or very early version of DKC4-

That strange game bugs me to this day.

What's funny is that most of that stuff is either mine, belongs to someone who I am watching, or it belongs to someone who is watching me.

So I finally upgraded from Firefox 3.6.x to 17.x.

I had to hunt down, download, edit the XPI to force the FireFox-3 theme to work with it (by changing add-on max version to be anything). It has absolutely no problems, so why is mozilla so intent of forcing add-on authors to do this? It's pointless.


By the way, DKCLB is going to have a forwards-compatibility system in place, so you won't have to worry about anything breaking custom objects. I don't plan on removing or changing previous functions (which always breaks compatibility).

Honestly, it's not that much of a bad port except one of it's new features.

Having to pay 10 Banana Coins to re fight a boss is RIDICULOUS! Swanky sure is an @$$ in this game!

I'm back, and I'm planning to work more on some of my old projects I didn't finish yet, and I'm planning new Donkey Kong Country ROM hacks still, at the moment, I have a crappy computer still, and I've almost got DKC3 with TUFST 105% complete, I'm 83% right now, I'm also working on getting DKC1 101% and DKC2 102%.
