I was messing around on the internet and found some sites that are able to run an AI algorithm on images to upscale them and generate more detail than is already there.

The results look like this:

Well I just used an online tool to do the conversion.

I haven't investigated whether there is some good software available as I've been too busy working on DELTA.

This is amazing! I would absolutely love to play a game with just updated graphics like this plus true widescreen mode. How difficult is it to make this a reality? I can Imagine upscaling each separate layer of a full map might make things easier but it would require a whole new game engine?
