This might be sacrilege to many people here, but to be honest, I haven't watched the DKC cartoon very much since it first aired in the US on Fox Family around 1998-1999. I still have recordings of multiple episodes on videocassette which often have early episodes of Pokémon between them (during its era on Kids' WB). I remember trying to find official VHSs or DVDs of it back in the day, and being disappointed, because they only had the Legend of the Crystal Coconut "movie" which was really just multiple episodes stitched together.

I remember one infamous incident of technical difficulties on Fox Family where parts/acts of an episode were aired in the wrong order, and may have even swapped to a different episode entirely after coming back from a commercial break. I remember a portion where Funky was on his biplane, about to crash, then not long after, he was about to board the biplane...

I also seem to recall Fox Family frequently changing their schedule around, making it difficult to know when exactly the next episode would be on.

Mattrizzle, your post reminded me a lot of how I used to watch a TV channel called KCET Family back in 2013-2014 or so. The program selection was interesting; it mostly consisted of late 90s/early 2000s Jim Henson shows, to Sid and Marty Kroft works (the people who made HR Pufnstuf, which itself also aired there), to obscure shows that were mostly low budget. One of these involved a live action show which had a person in an animal costume, and what I remember for sure was that its species was intended to be a red panda, since it was in the show's name. I think it was called Joey the Red Panda or something along the lines of that, but my memory is extremely fuzzy. Regrettably, we had no way of recording TV programming, so there's not much I can go off of besides my faint recollections. Worse still, it seems that no one has made any recordings online, which means there's even less for me to recall. For those interested, here are the Jim Henson shows I remember being on there.

I found this video. I think it's cool having the old actors back, and I learned that DK has a different actor for his singing voice. Benedict Campbell, also known as K.rool, seems to have lost some of his power in his singing voice. I guess that's 25 years of age.



And the predecessor, which is nice, but doesn't have the old actors, which would've been cool. The above video had normal DK voice, K.rool, Scurvy, General Klump, and Krusha. And Krusha was apparently Swanky as well.


Also, this isn't really my thing, but I came up with something somewhat like a meme.

Also, my sibling and I have been working together to try to recreate the dkc cartoon songs. it's been fun trying. so far, it's not half bad. Some of them actually you could mistake them for the originals.

My story ideas don't seem good enough to post here, so I'll wait until they improve. All I can think of right now is the usual silly ideas where nothing too eventful happens, and I'd rather not starting writing on the opposite end of the spectrum either and make everything grimdark. We'll see what happens.

I really enjoyed making this one. This level is very fun. Surprisingly, Angry Aztec is a really good fit. What do you think?

I should mention that none of this is spliced. It was very difficult to get perfection for Diddy's route. Dixie's route is pretty much the standard speedrunning route. Diddy had some 2-1 jumps mixed in. Dixie could only do the second 2-1 jump due to the irregularity of her throw. The first one, Dixie has to do a super team throw and Diddy does a 2-1 jump because his throw is higher and not funny in arc.

I figured as much. Perhaps they would have played a role in Rare's DKC4, had Nintendo allowed them to make it? It would have no doubt turned out better than the Wii and Wii U games we received.

Yes. I can imagine an ultimate DKC4. Maybe that is where Retro got the idea to put Cranky in there? I can just imagine the promise. Donkey Kong Racing had prospects from what I can see. That would have been awesome to play. I think the main decline for video games is the loss of creativity. Rareware had a bunch of games I would’ve seen out.

I also think having more silly parts in games would be helpful as well, like with Super Mario Bros Wonder. Non-lethal KOs definitely help sell the idea too.

Interestingly, this means roughly half of the regular levels in DKC1 (16/33) have an Animal Buddy. Surprising that Rambi appears in one fewer level than the other three ridable ones. Maybe they had a quota and Rambi's fourth appearance was scrapped because of Squawks?

rambi can appear in 2-3 by glitch. and where is expresso in misty mine?

I often want to think up more silly story ideas that showcase how strong of a bond the Kongs have with each other, but I'm not sure how best to go about that. Next time, I might have Funky bring a few Kongs along for a plane ride, since he's very cool.
