Graphical Elements
Introduction to Graphical Elements
In a Super Nintendo game like Donkey Kong Country, most visible elements are
made up of a series of individual graphic 'tiles' which combine to create the
graphics which you see while playing. There are many different ways that these
graphics can be displayed, such as one single image which fills the entire
screen (such as DKC's title screen), independantly scrolling background or
foreground graphics (as seen in caves, factories etc.), the characters (sprites)
themselves, and so forth.
So far, this section will be dealing with 'static' graphics only, rather than
animated graphics like character/object sprites. These may be included at a later
stage, but probably in a separate resources subsection.
Fixed Screen Graphics
Any non-scrolling, non-tiling fullscreen graphics. This section includes such
graphics as the title screen, world map screens, Kong family backgrounds, etc.
Level Scenery
Scrolling graphical layers used as background and foreground scenery.
Other categories will become available soon.
